When it came to double glazing I knew pretty much nothing other than that several people I knew of had had less than positive experiences with pushy salespeople or poor workmanship over the years so I was wary.
Windows Advice Centre were recommended to me by a friend and proved to be very different to what I had imagined a double glazing company would be like in a good way.
George, the gentleman who I was put in touch with was professional and polite (which describes all of all of the staff I spoke to from WAC) and seemed to have an almost encyclopaedic knowledge of all things double glazing related. He turned up when he said he would, explained things in detail and kept an eye on things as they progressed.
And thats what sets WAC apart they manage the process with you. They listen, get the right sort of windows then get quotes for you from trusted companies (a huge relief to know the company you use has genuinely been one that has a great rep) and then come out to inspect the companys work after the windows are installed.
Overall a great experience and a company I can recommend.

I contacted the Windows Advice Centre about fitting double glazing in some complex windows in a listed victorian building. They explained the issues involved clearly and with authority, costed, planned and implemented the work extremely efficiently and, once it was completed, carried out thorough checks. The building firm chosen to carry out the work was also excellent, with everything proceding punctually and efficiently and with minimum fuss and mess. The finished windows look wonderful.

Fantastic experience, so much better than dealing with pushing sales people in your homes for hours on end. Cheaper too!
Really helpful with planning permission, sorted out all for us at no cost.
Really great to have the follow up inspection. One of the windows needed a slight adjustment after installation but having that confirmed by the architect made it much easier to raise it and be sure everything else was correct. It was sorted within a week.

We recently bought a new house and needed to replace multiple (very large) windows. I was feeling nervous about asking for quotes because I was worried I would be taken advantage of since I know nothing about window installation or general requirements. I stumbled upon the Window Advice Center website on Google and decided to take a chance to see if they could help me and I'm so glad that I did. They were absolutely amazing from start to finish!
Following my initial email they sent someone to come take measurements and help me decide what it was I was looking for. He didn't try to sell me anything, just talked to me about my needs and then helped me understand the different options available on the market so that I could decide what I thought would work best for me. He explained all the pros and cons for each item we decided upon and answered questions at each step of the way. I felt so comfortable. He then left and wrote up a spec document which Window Advice submitted to contractors on my behalf.
Once the quotes came back I was able to pick a contractor and Window Advice helped me with all the paperwork.
When things didn't quite go to plan and the contractor hadn't contacted me by the agreed date to schedule an install, they stepped in and sorted everything for me.
One of the windows that was installed was cracked and needed to be replaced. The contractor was very apologetic and ordered a replacement immediately however when I received the invoice which stated I needed to pay within 7 days I wasn't sure whether I should pay it given that the job wasn't finished. I spoke with Window Advice on the phone and they helped me understand what to do and when to pay and they also followed up with the contractor to understand when my new window would be installed. I felt so relieved.
Finally, once the final window was fixed, they came out to inspect the window installation and made sure everything was up to spec and installed correctly. This made me feel so much more confident in my purchase!
Windows Advice did an absolutely amazing job from start to finish and I'm so grateful for their help. I highly recommend them to anyone who is uncertain about getting new windows because they make the whole process easy and smooth!

A very poor overall service. Agreed a specification and they drew up a tender. This included very specific locks which were a higher quality and came at a premium. When the contractor fitted the doors the locks used were not to agreed specification. 8 weeks later, various attempts to ask Window advice centre to push contractors to change them to the ones agreed, nothing.
Barely a response from WAC, nothing from contractor Ace Windows. Once the Window Advice Centre have had their kickback from the contractor they're simply not interested, so unprofessional compared to what they claim. Either WAC or Ace Windows messed up and neither of them want to accept responsibility Would not recommend as they're simply not trustworthy

The consultant from the Window Advice Centre took all the hassle out of choosing a double glazing firm. His advice helped design the windows and doors and the company chosen to do the work was excellent. He then returned to check all was well. The deposit protection and product insurance also adds to peace of mind. This is the way to get your windows etc. fitted as you have an expert to guide your choices who works for you and gives excellent and impartial advice. I would highly recommend the Window Advice Centre.

The cost of the Windows was a lot less than we expected them to be. He was with us from beginning to end even answered many questions throughout on the phone, even when he was on holiday. We were so relieved to find WAC and to meet Ken Hislop - saved our sanity and marriage! Choosing the relevant styles and sizes, specific fixtures and fittings and subsequently the best makers and fitters for us, was a trouble-free, relaxing and constructive process. On issues f we had not considered, Ken advised us patiently and with clear knowledge and expertise.
We emerged from the meeting confident and relieved! We were kept up to date with the search for appropriate window makers and the communication between all three parties was constant throughout. In Aug 18, we agreed to have 3 windows fitted by one of Window Advice Centre (WAC)recommended firms, installation being Jan 19. Two months later, I was contacted by WAC, stating that their material costs had since gone up and the firm now declined to proceed with the work - strange reason! WAC recommended an alternative firm that can still fit do it within the Jan and at the earlier agreed price.
In Feb 19, I received a letter, with a cheque for the deposit paid, stating no windows will be fitted since there's is parking restrictions outside the property. I was shocked to say the least. We and all other residents on that road continue to get our properties regularly maintained by various attending contractors, despite the parking restrictions - there is a way round it and this was discussed with the surveyor at the time. I can't believe the windows were cut/made but parking issues prevented their installation. I would give them a Zero star if there was such thing.

Excellent service, fantastic value for money - would highly recommend this professional and friendly service which was provided with no pressure or commitment just sound advice. Effortlessly guided me through the process from initial design, product and contractor selection, successful installation and highly detailed independent inspection after the contractor had completed the work.
The product quality and standard of installation was excellent. The cost through Window Advice Centre was only 60% of what I was quoted when I contacted companies myself. Couldn't recommend highly enough!

I had a terrific experience with the Window Advice Centre architect (Ken Hislop) to guide me through the process of replacement windows and the options available for me. The Windows Advice Centre are a truly independent service to give folks the service and advice for replacing the right window for the right situation. Ken was a like minded conservationist and guided me through the process of sourcing the right windows and contractor for the replacement like-for-like windows in Glasgow's West End conservation area.
His knowledge and expertise really was impressive with the ability to translate complex architecture nomenclature to layman speak whilst keeping the balance of conservation and thermal effectiveness. I recommend the Windows Advice Centre and ask for Ken so the right advice and guidance can be sought whilst balancing conservation with modern needs of a warm property.

Our advisor helped us to make the best decisions from a range of options available in relation to the qualities and costs of replacement windows for a listed building. He also helped us select a contractor to manufacture and fit the windows and the contractor subsequently proved to be first class. I felt a bit daunted about the process as it represents a significant investment but Windows Advice Centre took the anxiety away by being reliable, giving clear explanations and written information and coming back to check the work once the windows were fitted. Very satisfied indeed.

He listened to what we wanted and also gave us additional (no obligation) suggestions which we loved. Having spent several hours looking into the multitude of variables involved in selecting high quality replacement windows and subsequently visiting the web sites of most of the big double glazing companies we decided that when it came to specifying new windows it was just too easy to make a mistake. We therefore decided to seek independent expert advice and found the Windows Advice Centre (WAC).
From the outset the WAC proved to be far more knowledgeable than I had expected and more importantly were able to communicate their expert advice in a very clear way providing answers and explanations whenever needed. Our windows have just been fitted this week and we could not be happier with them. While a large part of the credit should go to the contractors who manufactured and installed our new windows an equally large part of the credit goes to the WAC for specifying the windows and helping us find the right contractors. I would have no hesitation in recommending the WAC to others and in fact have already done so.

What a totally fantastic service - USE THESE GUYS!! Would give them 10 stars if I could. After despairing over our troublesome, leaky, failing windows in a wooden extension, built only a very few years ago AND having ordinary glaziers out to inspect and give gloomy suggestions, we now have beautifully made, top quality replacements. We received so much sensible advice from someone prepared to sit down and talk in great detail.
Following that, plans were drawn up and agreed, and a contractor chosen, who then did a good job. We would NEVER have managed this on our own, particularly finding a small glazing / joinery set-up, based over 50 miles away, prepared to build bespoke windows.

While a large part of the credit should go to the contractors who manufactured and installed our new windows an equally large part of the credit goes to the WAC for specifying the windows and helping us find the right contractors. I would have no hesitation in recommending the WAC to others and in fact have already done so.
From the outset the WAC proved to be far more knowledgeable than I had expected and more importantly were able to communicate their expert advice in a very clear way providing answers and explanations whenever needed. We contacted WAC after reading the glowing reviews online and Ken came out to the house to meet us, inspect existing windows and take the time to explain different types, quality and rough prices of options. With Ken's help we were able to make a decision on what we wanted at a price that would put some of the large windows sales companies to shame.
The money we saved by having an expert essentially act on our behalf allowing us to make informed decisions more than paid for the WAC service; total cost came in at about 40% less than we had expected for sliding sash.
Ken came out and inspected the works at completion in order to sign-off before we paid the balance. Highly recommended!

If your windows matter to you and you are replacing them then the first thing you should do is go and talk to Windows Advice Centre. They clearly talked through all the options available to us in considerable detail. We live in a conservation area so needed to get it right. Our house has 4 round top sliding sash windows and they have replaced them successfully, indeed beautifully.
There were some tricky details to work out between the manufacturers, the installers and ourselves (we are very picky) and this was done with consideration and patience and at no time did we feel under pressure to accept anything other than the best for our house. We sit in our home now looking at lovely windows and are very happy. Thank you.

Windows advice centre gave excellent service. There was no sales pressure and we were free to decide if and when we would go ahead. The work was carried out quickly and efficiently. They took all the pressure out of obtaining the planning permission for us. Installation now complete and we are delighted with the end result.

We needed windows for pretty much the whole house and the Centre made it so easy.The expertise and quality of independent advice in the window world is invaluable! Simply fantastic. We had heard these guys were good and they delivered. Ken was polite, understanding and very professional. He listened to what we wanted and also gave us additional (no obligation) suggestions which we loved. He took the time to patiently help us design every window and door for our home but didn't take hours about it either and there was no hard sell.

Fantastic service and most helpful. living in conservation area I had to be careful that the replacement windows were correct - window advice centre gave excellent advice and were able to source quotes which were 30% cheaper than national companies and I would safely say better quality products. delighted and highly recommend.
